What is Nucala 100 mg used for and Nucala Injection Cost?
NUCALA is a medication which contains the active substance mepolizumab, a monoclonal antibody. This antibody blocks a particular protein called interleukin-5. NUCALA is used to treat severe eosinophilic asthma or to treat eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA).
Severe eosinophilic asthma
Some people with severe asthma have an excessive number of eosinophils (a type of white platelet) in the blood, lungs and tissues. Having such a large number of eosinophils in your blood can harm the airways and can make your asthma to get worse or can expand the quantity of your asthma flare ups.
NUCALA is used to treat asthma by diminishing the frequency of asthma flare ups in adolescents (more than 12 years old) and adults who are now accepting asthma medicines, but whose asthma flare ups are not very much controlled by medicines, for example, high-dose corticosteroid inhalers or beta-agonist inhalers.
NUCALA can also be used to help diminish the every day dose of oral corticosteroids in patients taking these prescriptions to control asthma symptoms and flare ups.
Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis (EGPA)
EGPA is a condition where people have such a large number of eosinophils in the blood and tissues, and furthermore have inflammation of the veins (vasculitis). EGPA most usually affects the lungs and sinuses however regularly affects different organs including the skin, heart, kidneys, nerves or bowels.
NUCALA can decrease symptoms and delay a flare-up of these indications in people who are now taking corticosteroids.
NUCALA can also help lessen the day by day dose of corticosteroids you need to control your side effects.
