What is Xbira ?

XBIRA 250mg – Abiraterone Acetate is a drug used in combination with prednisone in metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (formerly hormone-resistant prostate cancer) which is a prostate cancer not responding to androgen deprivation or treatment with anti-androgens. XBIRA is a CYP17 inhibitor indicated in combination with prednisone for the treatment of patients with metastatic CRPC who have received prior chemotherapy containing docetaxel.

XBIRA (abiraterone acetic acid derivation) tablets are demonstrated in blend with prednisone for the treatment of patients with metastatic CRPC who have received earlier chemotherapy containing docetaxel.

The suggested dose of XBIRA tablets is 1,000 mg (four 250 mg tablets) regulated orally once-day by day in blend with prednisone 5 mg directed orally twice-every day. XBIRA tablets must be taken on an empty stomach. No food ought to be burned-through for in any event 2 hours before the dose of XBIRA tablet is taken and for at any rate 1 hour after the dose of XBIRA tablet is taken.

How it works ?

Abiraterone Acetate decreased serum testosterone and other androgens in patients in the placebo-controlled Phase 3 clinical trials. It is not necessary to monitor the effect  on serum testosterone levels.
Changes in serum prostate-specific antigen (PSA) levels may be observed, but have not been shown to correlate with clinical benefit in individual patients.Abiraterone Inhibits 17 Α-Hydroxylase/C17,20 Lyase (CYP17A1), An Enzyme Which Is Expressed In Testicular, Adrenal, And Prostatic Tumor Tissues. CYP17 Catalyzes Two Sequential Reactions: (A) The Conversion Of Pregnenolone And Progesterone To Their 17-Α-Hydroxy Derivatives By Its 17 Α-Hydroxylase Activity, And (B) The Subsequent Formation Of Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) And Androstenedione, Respectively, By Its C17,20 Lyase Activity. DHEA And Androstenedione Are Androgens And Precursors Of Testosterone. Inhibition Of CYP17 Activity By Abiraterone Thus Decreases Circulating Levels Of Testosterone.
